1.A minimum of 134 credit hours is required for graduation. 2.School-wide required courses: 33 credits; professional required courses: 54 credits; professional elective courses: 47 credits, including credits in one Chinese-English Translation elective course and one Chinese-English Interpretation elective course. 3.For interdisciplinary study, major elective credits are at least 8 credits for inter-departmental or inter-collegiate courses taken before graduation. The same courses cannot be taken twice no matter which department offers them. 4.The following courses must be taken consecutively as they are progressive in nature: Grammar and Rhetoric, Basic English Writing, Intermediate English Writing (I), Intermediate English Writing (II), Advanced English Writing (I), and Advanced English Writing (II). The student is required to take Introduction to Chinese-English Translation before taking any of the elective courses on Translation Studies. 5.Language Test does not count towards the credits required for graduation. 6.Students admitted to the university in the academic year 2009-2010 or after must meet the English language proficiency requirement prior to graduation. Students can refer to the graduation requirements posted on the website of the Office of Academic Affairs. 7.The excess credits (in excess of 8 credits) in other foreign languages will not be counted into credits of professional electives or those of interdepartmental electives. 8.According to National Taipei University of Technology Course Selection Guidelines for Students, senior undergraduate students may take one graduate-level course if approved. The credits thus acquired will be counted into those of interdepartmental elective courses. 9.Prior to graduation, students are required to take the following five fundamental courses (i.e. the Laying Foundations courses): English Conversation (II), Oral Communication in English, English Presentation Skills, Public Speaking and Debate, and Introduction to Chinese-English Interpreting. 10.Form 5 students (as specified in Article 18.1 of Academic Regulations) should take 12 extra credits of professional elective courses for graduation. 11."Off-campus Internship" may be counted towards specialized elective course (max: 9 credits). 12.A total of 18 credit units of General Education courses is required, 12 credit units of which shall include 4 credits each for Society and Rule of Law, Nature and Science, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. 13.Specialization Module courses taken in other departments shall count towards the credits for interdisciplinary study. 14.Students may be allowed to take Programming Basics offered in other departments 15.This list of required courses for graduation is applicable to students admitted in the academic year 2020. |
