Description This course is intended not only to familiarize students with the evolving canon of British and American literatures, but also to investigate its contextual historical and cultural meanings, past as well as present. It aims to sharpen students' critical thinking ability and analytical reading skills by engaging them to discuss social, political, cultural, psychological, philosophical, and theoretical issues that are relevant to their understanding and appreciation of the selected literary works. Students are required to peruse the assigned weekly readings and participate in class discussion.
