Description The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of the current state of second language acquisition studies and to familiarize students with major language acquisition theories and fundamental principles of language learning and teaching. The topics that this course primarily deals with include: theories of first language acquisition; theories of second language acquisition; current issues in language acquisition; age and acquisition; learning styles and learner strategies; affective factors in second language acquisition; socio-cultural factors in second language acquisition; learner language and error analysis; communicative competence; the reading process; and the writing process.
