1.A minimum of 130 credit hours is required for graduation. 2.School-wide required courses: 28 credits; professional required courses: 56 credits; professional elective courses: 28 credits, including credits in one Chinese-English Translation elective course and one Chinese-English Interpretation elective course; interdisciplinary & other elective courses: 18 credits. Interdisciplinary & other elective credits refer to the credits that students can earn by taking General Education courses, various departmental courses (including their own department and other departments), university-level courses, and college-level courses. Among them, a maximum of 4 credits can be recognized from General Education courses. 3.For interdisciplinary study, a total of 8-15 major elective credits offered by other departments or other colleges may be taken. The same courses cannot be taken twice no matter which department offers them. 4.The following courses must be taken consecutively as they are progressive in nature: Basic English Writing, Intermediate English Writing (I), Intermediate English Writing (II), Advanced English Writing (I), and Advanced English Writing (II). The student is required to take Introduction to Chinese-English Interpretation before taking any of the elective courses on Interpretation Studies. 5.English in the Workplace courses do not count towards the credits required for graduation. 6.Students admitted to the university in the academic year 2009-2010 or after must meet the English language proficiency requirement prior to graduation. Students can refer to the graduation requirements posted on the website of the Office of Academic Affairs. 7.The non-English foreign language courses shall be taken consecutively. Moreover, the following credits shall not be counted towards the credits required for graduation: (1) non-English foreign language courses (must be the same foreign language) taken in excess of four credit units, (2) credit units of non-English foreign language courses offered outside of the English Department, and (3) credit units of any second foreign language course other than those in (1). 8.According to National Taipei University of Technology Course Selection Guidelines for Students, senior undergraduate students may take one graduate-level course if approved. The credits thus acquired will be counted into those of interdepartmental elective courses. 9.Prior to graduation, students are required to take the following five fundamental courses (i.e. the Laying Foundations courses): English Conversation (II), Oral Communication in English, English Presentation Skills, Public Speaking and Debate, and Introduction to Chinese-English Interpreting. 10.Form 5 students (as specified in Article 18.1 of Academic Regulations) should take 12 extra credits of professional elective courses for graduation. 11.A total of 15 credit units of General Education courses is required, 12 credit units of which shall include 4 credits each for the Society and Rule of Law, Nature and Science, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship dimensions. The other 3 credits can be earned across dimensions. 12.Specialization Module courses taken in other departments shall count towards the credits for interdisciplinary study. Students need to complete a series of courses in either the interdisciplinary programs, general programs, second major, minor, or double majors. The relevant regulations of the graduation process shall be prescribed separately. 13.Students may be allowed to take Programming Basics offered in other departments 14.This list of required courses for graduation is applicable to students admitted in the academic year 2023. |
