課程大綱 This course offers a broad introduction to computer programming and object-oriented programming. The major programming language focused will be C++, one of the "big 3" programming languages according to the TIOBE survey in Dec. 2017. We shall also cover essential data structures, e.g., linked list and binary search trees, modern development tools, e.g., Make, Subversion, Git, and unit testing tools, object-oriented programing paradigms, design patterns, and refactoring. How to plan a real-world-level project shall also be discussed. From this course, students can expect to be equipped with essential know-hows for computer programming and object-oriented programming, both of which are indispensable in the foreseeable future.

Functions and macros; structures, unions, and classes Week 5. The C++ standard template library (STL) (I) Week 6. The C++ standard template library (STL) (II) Week 7. Advanced classes: copy control, operator overloading, inheritance, polymorphism, and more. Week 8. Midterm examination (上機考) Week 9. Design patterns (I): GoF patterns Week 10. Design patterns (II): GoF patterns Week 11. Design patterns (III): small memory patterns Week 12. Design patterns (IV): small memory patterns Week 13. Large-scale programming in C++ Week 14.
