課程大綱本課程著重教導學生閱讀文章，並藉由文章訓練學生字彙建構、語言解析及聽力會話、思維啟發能力。課中延展活動將閱讀內容與聽力、會話、寫作做進一步的連結，並引導學生將所學做有效的應用。 The course provides students with explicit skills-based instruction in learning how to process, and decipher the readings that serve as springboards for reading skills development, vocabulary building, language analysis, and thought-provoking discussions. The readings include a variety of viewpoints on global topics centered around social issues, the environment, psychology, business, and technology. Extension activities are designed to encourage students to go beyond the reading text, and to put what they acquire from the readings into listening, speaking and writing practices.

評量方式與標準 COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND POLICIES: 1. Tardiness: Don’t be late. You will lose points for being late. (遲到會扣分 2次遲到等於1次缺席) 2. Absence: You will lose points for being absent. (出席很重要缺席曠課會扣分) 3. If you are absent for 5 times, you CANNOT pass this class. Show your teacher your Proof of Absence if you cannot come. (曠課五次或以上出席及參與成績0分 / 請遵守學校請假程序) 4. 無故缺考期中或期末考試者該次考試成績以零分計算 5. Please turn off or MUTE your cell phone during class time. 上課請勿使用手機與課程無相關的網頁瀏覽聊天遊戲會扣分 Attendance = 10% Participation = 20% Group Report = 10% (4-6ppl / 10-15mins) Midterm paper (個人) = 10 % Quiz (midterm / final) = 30% School Midterm 會考 = 20% 6. Keep the classroom clean. (垃圾請帶走保持教室乾淨) EVALUATION:  Group report 重點說明: □ Topic-related short reading (文字不要太多 / 不要整段翻譯 / 英文閱讀很重要 / 清楚講解) □ Vocabulary (用顏色或劃線標出重點或生字 / 可以在文字內附上中文生字) □ Useful information (請補充主題相關的常識或知識或新聞不一定要有英文但最好要有圖) □ PPT (要有首頁及組員名字 / 多運用照片 / 字體顏色及大小適中) □ 3-5 Questions (請準備小獎勵 / 問題難易適中 / 有創意的問題 / 可運用照片) □ Clips (短片長度請自行掌握 / 播放前請說明 ) □ Creativity (創意無敵可以運用小表演或是有獎猜謎做開場引起同學興趣 )
