課程大綱 This course builds a conceptual understanding of economic decision-making for civil engineering projects. It introduces selected microeconomic ideas that support engineering choices and develops the core reasoning framework of engineering economy for evaluating and comparing alternatives. Realistic civil engineering examples are used to reinforce decision logic and interpretation.

課程進度 Week 1 – Course overview; decision-making perspective in civil engineering Week 2 – Economic thinking for engineers (selected foundational concepts) Week 3 – Project evaluation basics: framing problems, assumptions, and relevant factors Week 4 – Cash-flow perspective and evaluation framework (overview) Week 5 – Time value of money: key ideas and interpretation Week 6 – Time value of money: applications and practice Week 7 – Applied practice session (e.g., spreadsheet-based analysis) Week 8 – Comparing project alternatives: core approaches (I) Week 9 – Comparing project alternatives: core approaches (II) Week 10 – Comparing project alternatives: core approaches (III) Week 11 – Public-sector and infrastructure evaluation (overview) Week 12 – Additional topics in project economic evaluation (selected) Week 13 – Long-term evaluation considerations (e.g., price change and uncertainty) Week 14 – Infrastructure asset decision topics (overview) Week 15 – Life-cycle perspective and sustainability-related evaluation (overview) Week 16 – Uncertainty, sensitivity, and risk-informed thinking (overview) Week 17 – Integrated case discussion / synthesis Week 18 – Review and assessment (exam and/or project-based evaluation)

評量方式與標準 Homework：20% Midterm exam：25% Final assessment（Final exam / case-based report）：35% Participation & In-Class Activities：20%
