課程大綱
Engineering analysis involves the application of scientific methods to understand the state of a system. An engineering system often cannot be dissembled for inspection of individual parts. It is crucial to be able to pinpoint the cause of problems by considering the performance and response of the whole system. This course will start with an introduction to the concepts of scientific research and scientific methods. Keys to access and understand academic research results will then be discussed. During the length of the class, students will have the chance to have first-hand experiences with problem-solving using scientific methods. The class will be concluded with example discussions in the fields of water resources and structural analyses. Students are expected to be able to apply the principles of scientific analyses in future problem solving and to discover proper academic research results to assist such problem-solving.
