課程大綱本課程藉由不同情境之英語錄影帶, 以及專題的語彙題目來提供一個英語談話的情境使學生能學習合宜的詞句。小組討論、角色演練、口頭報告皆為主要教學技巧，俾能增強學生之聽說能力。 This course aims at providing an English-speaking environment to allow students learn about the speaking strategies and common expressions used in different situations through oral practice. Small-group/pair discussion and role-playing are also parts of the methodologies. Please note that this course is exclusively for English majors (so as to provide the small-group instruction that is necessary for improving oral communication).

課程進度 Please see the syllabus distributed on the first day of class. Most weeks students will read a reading in the course packet, listen to a podcast, radio show, etc. and/or watch a video that is relevant to interpersonal communication, students' current college lives, history/cultural literacy, and/or topics of current global interest. In class students will take quizzes on the material they previewed (and vocabulary quizzes) and do various speaking activities, including presentations that involve the class.

評量方式與標準 30% Presentations (graded on criteria such as clarity, fluency, originality, creativity, and effort) 30% Reading and Vocabulary Quizzes 25% Participation & English spoken (in student-led discussions, whole-class activities, etc.) 15% Final Oral Exam/Improvisation

Students will have a course packet. They will also be referred (on the syllabus or via MS Teams) to online links that they should follow to preview material. Students should check MS Teams at least three times per week to check for important messages about the class. 課程諮詢管道 Office hours will be Mondays from 10:00–12:00 (by appointment only) and on Wednesdays from 1:00–3:00.
