科學視算指的是將大量的運算資料、監測結果或實驗數據,結合電腦繪圖以視覺化的方式呈現出來,幫助研究者進一步瞭解大量數據背後所代表的工程意義,在本課程中將介紹科學視算的原理,教導所使用的軟體工具和繪圖函式庫,讓學生有機會瞭解科學視算在土木工程上的應用,並以案例介紹科學視算的用途,如結構物的地震振動反應、震波在地層中的傳遞狀況、地形特徵和GPS資料的視覺化模擬、以及板塊運動的模擬情形等。本課程先修課程為程式設計,並且最好具備有限元素法的概念,建議研究所同學選修。

English Description
Scientific visualization is the use of computer graphics to visually represent the composite meaning of the large amount of data obtained by scientific computation, extensive monitoring, or engineering experiments. It could help researchers quickly grasp the engineering implications in their field of interest. This course will introduce the basic theory of scientific visualization, teach the relevant programming skills, and demonstrate how to apply the principles of scientific visualization to civil engineering problems. Examples include the seismic response of engineering structures, the propagation of seismic waves in the ground, and the movement of tectonic plates. The prerequisite of this course is computer programming. It is suitable for graduate students to choose as an elective.
