English Description
The aim of this course is to introduce basic methods of numerical analysis and to provide the groundwork for the research in the Institute of Industrial Engineering and Management. The objectives guide students to: (1) Write simple program for numerical calculations. (2) Find approximate solutions of various mathematical problems. Course content includes error analysis, solving a nonlinear equation (e.g. bracketing methods for locating a root, Newton-Raphson and secant methods), Taylor series and Lagrange approximation, Gaussian elimination, LU decomposition, Solving nonlinear system, Curve Fitting, Interpolation by spline function, Fourier series and expansion, numerical differentiation & integration, solving differential equations, Minimization of a function, etc.
