| 中文概述 Chinese Description | 生物質量(biomass)是指各類有機物質的質量，是太陽能經由光合作用或其他機制以化學能形式貯存於生物體中的能量，這一類貯存於動植物的化學能量通稱為生質能源(bioenergy or biomass energy)。生質能源是一種再生能源，與風能、太陽能、地熱等一樣具有用之不竭的特性。生物質量在能源上的應用可稱為生質能源技術(bioenergy technology)，包括兩大發展方向，其一為生質燃料(biofuels)，亦即將生物質轉變為燃料，如生質酒精、生質柴油、與methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE)等，主要應用於交通運輸用燃油之替代燃料；其二為用作生質電力(biopower)，包括直接燃燒生質物並配合氣體渦輪(gas turbine)來產生電能，或是將生物質以醱酵技術轉換成氣體燃料(如氫氣或甲烷)或液體燃料(如醇類)，再配合燃料電池(fuel cells)應用於電力之產生。生質能源技術為包含跨領域之技術整合，包含現代生物技術所發展出之基因轉殖(genetic cloning)、醱酵控制、與生物觸媒(biocatalysis)技術等。在很多情況下亦必須配合熱裂解之生物質處理或生質精煉(biorefinery)程序，以達成不同的生物質量產物之轉化與純化。 | |||
| 英文概述 English Description | This is an introductory course to bioenergy which deals with bioenergy properties,production and logistics as well as biofuel upgrading processes,combustion/gasification and environmental aspects.The main goal is to introduce students to bioenergy sources and related biotechnology for the production of biofuels and bioproducts.The student will get an overview of available biomass resources,knowledge of basic methods of bioenergy use,and the possibilities for bioenergy use today and in the future.Furthermore,this course will provide the experience in various bioenergy including liquid biofuels(such as biodiesel,bioethanol,and MTBE),solid biofuels(wood and grass bioenergy),and biogas(the farm-based bioenergy).The course will provide the students the biofuel-related science and technology,the background and literature information regarding to the environmental,economical,and social issues,as well as other biofuel-related development such as genetic cloning,biocatalysis, and biorefinery. | |||
