Course Objective This course surveys the principal concepts of fluid dynamics. Topics include mass and momentum conservation, the Navier-Stokes equation for viscous flows, as well as dimensional analysis. Emphasis is placed on being able to utilize the concepts to solve the real problems encountered during conducting research

Course Schedule Course Syllabus 1-2 weeks: Introduction to Momentum Transport 3-4 weeks: Shell Momentum Balance 5-8 weeks: Vectors and Tensors 9 week: midterm exam week 10-13 weeks: Cartesian vectors and tensors: their calculus 14-15 weeks: Reynold’s transport theorem and the kinematics of fluid motion 16 weeks:Equation of Motion: Navier-Stokes Equation 17 week: Final Exam 18 week: Discussion
