Course Objective 本課程由微觀經濟學角度出發，分析各種環境問題，並介紹各種經濟誘因行政策工具，以補足傳統環境工程教育偏重工程面之不足。 This course applies theories in micro economics to analyze environmental problems. Policy tools that are often applied in solving environmental problems are further introduced and being evaluated using micro economic principals.

Course Schedule 1. Basic assumptions of microeconomics 2. Market economy 3. Market failure and externality 4. Policy tools: Command & Control 5. Policy tools: market-based policies 6. Cap-and-trade exercise 7. Time value of money 8. Time value of money: inflation 9. Cost and benefit analysis: benefits 10. Cost and benefit analysis: costs

Evaluation and grading policy 1. Homework & exercises：30% 2. midterm：30% 3. final exam：40%
