Course Objective 網路搜尋引擎已經成為現代人日常生活必備的工具之一. 資訊檢索課程主要在探討, 如何有效的索引大量文件, 並搜尋使用者需要的相關資訊. 本課程將介紹資訊檢索的基本觀念, 文件與語言特性, 各種檢索模型, 檢索結果評估, 索引與搜尋, 文件分類分群, 網頁搜尋. 除了文字之外, 本課程也將探討各種多媒體檢索相關應用. Web search engine has become one of the necessary tools in modern lives. This course aims at investigating how to index large amount of text documents and search what users need in an effective way. We will introduce the basic concepts of information retrieval, characteristics of documents and languages, various retrieval models, evaluation of retrieval results, indexing and searching, text classification, text clustering, and Web search. In addition to texts, we will also introduce some applications of multimedia retrieval.
