Course Objective The first objective of this course is to appreciate the essential of Business Ethics through five main faucets: recognizing socially acceptable business conduct from the global perspectives, embedding good business in treating people nice and fair, reengineering corporate image, enhancing professional ethics, and investing in sustainable and socially responsible corporations. This course also discusses with the students the corporate governance that follows business ethics in today's changing business society. Five major categories will be covered: (1) Corporate social responsibility, (2) Consumer protection, (3) Employee's rights and benefits, (4) Responsibility of employee to the firms, and (5) Employer-employee relations. The second objective is to further explain the definitions of ESG and SDGs, and then to root the concept of sustainable management to students through local and international case studies.

Course Schedule Week Topic Focus & Case Studies 1 Introduction to Macroeconomics Why businesses need macroeconomic analysis; overview of GDP, inflation, interest rates. 2 Measuring Economic Activity GDP components; case: retail industry growth and consumer spending. 3 Inflation & Price Stability CPI, PPI; case: food & beverage companies managing cost pressures. 4 Unemployment & Labor Markets Types of unemployment; case: tech industry hiring cycles. 5 Monetary Policy Basics Central banks, interest rates; case: corporate borrowing strategies. 6 Fiscal Policy & Government Spending Taxes, deficits; case: infrastructure investment and construction firms. 7 Business Cycles Expansion, recession; case: airline industry resilience. 8 International Trade & Exchange Rates Trade balances, currency risks; case: exporters vs. importers. 9 Financial Markets & Investment Climate Stock, bond markets; case: corporate treasury management. 10 Globalization & Emerging Markets Mid-term examine and Case sharing: multinational corporations entering Asia. 11 Corporate Strategy & Macroeconomic Risks Scenario planning: automotive industry supply chain. 12 Investment Planning under Uncertainty Risk management: real estate developers. 13 Sectoral Analysis Comparing industries supply and demand for tech, energy, healthcare. 14 Macroeconomic Forecasting Tools Using indicators for business planning. 15 Case Assignment Group project: company investment layout 16 Final Presentations Student presentations
