Course Objective	本課程著重教導學生閱讀文章，並藉由文章訓練學生閱讀理解、字彙建構、以及語言解析能力。教材著重於科學、科技以及工程方面的文章，並藉由課堂延展活動增進學生於科學、科技以及工程領域的英語能力。 The course provides students with explicit, skill-based instruction in learning how to process and decipher the readings that serve as springboards for reading skill development, vocabulary building, and language analysis. Selected readings will be centered around science, technology, and engineering. Extension activities are designed to improve students’ technical English skills to be used in the fields of science, technology, and engineering.

Evaluation and grading policy	Midterm：20 % General English Proficiency Exam 20% Final Exam：20 % Attendance and participation 20 %, Assignments 20 % Subject to change without prior notice No make-up quizzes and exams, except serious illness with hospital official documents or compassionate leave. The test scores will be reduced 30% off. * Late assignment will be reduced 20% off and be sure to hand in the assignments to teacher in person. * Accumulated absences up to three times (18 hours) will be automatically failed this course. * The percentages may be adjusted to represent more adequately the time invested in various topics.
