Course Objective 介紹含碳化合物的命名、結構與性質的基本概念。課程重點在反應機構、合成、立體化學、化學分析及儀器分析方法。 Fundamentals of structure and properties of carbon compounds. Emphasis on reaction mechanisms, synthesis, stereochemistry, as well as chemical and spectroscopic methods of analysis.

Course Schedule 1. Structure and Bonding; Acids and Bases 2. Alkanes: The Nature of Organic Compounds 3. Alkenes and Alkynes: The Nature of Organic Reactions 4. Reactions of Alkenes and Alkynes 5. Aromatic Compounds 6. Stereochemistry at Tetrahedral Centers 7. Organohalides:Nucleophilic Substitutions and Eliminations 8. Alcohols, Phenols, Ethers, and Their Sulfur Analogs 9. Aldehydes and Ketones: Nucleophilic Addition Reactions 10. Carboxylic Acids and Derivatives: Nucleophilic Acyl Substitution Reactions 11. Carbonyl Alpha-Substitution Reactions and Condensation Reactions 12. Amines

Evaluation and grading policy 出席及上課情形，實施作業、二~四次左右之月考、期中考、期末考。
