Course Objective Welcome to the NTUT University Table Tennis Coaching Program! This semester-long course is designed to equip students with fundamental and advanced table tennis skills. From mastering the basics of racket handling to executing precision serves and advanced strokes, this course aims to foster a comprehensive understanding of the game. Whether you are a beginner or have prior experience, this class will help you enhance your technical, tactical, and physical skills while promoting teamwork and sportsmanship.

Course Schedule Course Objectives: Build a strong foundation in table tennis basics: grip, stance, and movement. Develop skills in forehand, backhand, serving techniques, and spins. Introduce game strategies and foster match-play experience. Encourage fitness, hand-eye coordination, and reflex enhancement. Create an enjoyable learning environment promoting personal growth and sportsmanship. 16-Week Semester Syllabus Weeks 1-2: Fundamentals of Table Tennis Topics Covered: Introduction to table tennis equipment Rules and regulations overview Correct racket grip (shakehand and penhold grips) Proper stance and footwork basics Activities: Demonstrations and practice drills Basic ball control and consistency exercises Weeks 3-4: Forehand Technique Topics Covered: Forehand drive mechanics Generating power and accuracy Positioning and movement drills for forehand Activities: Forehand warm-up routines Pair practice for forehand rallies Target-based accuracy challenges Weeks 5-6: Backhand Technique Topics Covered: Backhand drive fundamentals Transitioning between forehand and backhand Handling high and low backhand strokes Activities: Backhand drills (stationary and moving) Consistency-building rally exercises Match scenarios for backhand use Weeks 7-8: Serving Fundamentals Topics Covered: Rules for serving in table tennis Basic serve types (flat, topspin, backspin) Importance of spin and placement Activities: Practicing basic serves Serving accuracy and variation challenges Partner feedback and refinement sessions Weeks 9-10: Advanced Serves Topics Covered: Side-spin serves Combination spin serves Deceptive serves to confuse opponents Activities: Drill sessions for spin and speed variations Serve-return scenarios with partners Individual serve improvement plans Weeks 11-12: Undercut Techniques Topics Covered: Mastering the undercut/backspin stroke Defensive uses of undercut techniques Strategies to counter opponent spin Activities: Undercut practice with controlled drills Match-play emphasis on defensive skills Game simulations focusing on undercut scenarios Weeks 13-14: Strategy and Match Play Topics Covered: Developing match strategies based on opponent analysis Tactical use of spin, speed, and placement Combining offensive and defensive styles Activities: Practice matches with structured feedback Team games to enhance collaboration Video analysis of professional matches Weeks 15-16: Final Assessment and Match Play Topics Covered: Recap of all skills learned Preparation for final skill evaluation Conducting tournament-style match play Activities: Final practical skill demonstrations Official in-class tournament Feedback sessions and goal setting for future growth

Evaluation and grading policy Grading: Skill Development: 45% (Demonstrated improvement in forehand, backhand, serving, and undercut techniques) Match Play Performance: 45% (Tactical application of skills during matches) Participation and Effort: 10% (Active engagement in class activities) Absence: missing one class or one match will have 6 point reduction from final grade. Sick leave or personal affairs absence are excluded, unless otherwise specified for particular reasons.
