Course Objective This course introduces the fundamental concepts of digital logic design with a focus on applications relevant to semiconductor process and equipment engineering. Topics include number systems, Boolean algebra, logic minimisation, combinational circuits, sequential circuits, registers, counters, and finite state machines. Throughout the course, concepts are connected to real equipment scenarios including sensor signal processing, threshold alarms, safety interlocks, process sequence control, and equipment start/stop logic. The course is designed for first-year students without prior electronics or programming background; emphasis is placed on building intuition and practical understanding rather than mathematical derivation.
