Course Objective Fluid mechanics delves into the static and dynamic behavior of fluid motion. This course covers fundamental properties and principal concepts of fluids, such as pressure distribution, and conservation laws for mass, momentum, and energy. Applications involving internal and external flow will also be given. This course equips students with the ability to analyze and design fluid systems based on appropriate theoretical model.

Course Schedule Week 1: Introduction to fluid mechanics Week 2: Fluid Properties Week 3: Fluid Statics I: conversation of mass and momentum Week 4: Fluid Statics II: energy transport Week 5: Kinematics of Fluid Flow Week 6: Conservation of Mass Week 7: Conservation of Momentum Week 8: Conservation of Energy Week 9: Midterm exam Week 10: Dimensional Analysis Week 11: Similarity & Boundary Layer Week 12: Viscous Flow Fundamentals Week 13: Laminar Flow in Pipes Week 14: Turbulent Flow in Pipes Week 15: Head Losses in Pipe Systems Week 16: Pipe Flow Systems Week 17: Unsteady Flow & Water Hammer Week 18: Final exam
