Course Objective	This course introduces second-year students to the principles and practices of cultural collections management within museums, archives, and other cultural institutions. Operating as a seminar–lecture hybrid with limited enrolment, it pairs instructor-led sessions with student-led discussions of designated English readings presented on alternating weeks. Core content covers foundational museological knowledge, acquisition and deaccessioning, object documentation, conservation and preventive care, cataloging systems, digitization and digital preservation, metadata standards, and collections governance, alongside value-added applications, open access, image licensing, and cultural ethics. Two field visits to cultural institutions are integrated into the schedule. Weeks 6 and 14 are dedicated to site visits; Weeks 3, 4, 8, 10, 12, and 15 feature rotating group presentations of assigned readings. Midterm and final assessments take the form of group presentations; specific formats will be announced in class.

Note	Week 17 - Each student independently researches the collections management approach of any museum worldwide, selecting one institution as a case study based on the course scope designated by the instructor. Week 18 - Each student writes an individual case analysis report (approx. 500 words) based on the Week 17 research, critically examining the institution's collections management practices. The completed report must be submitted on time via the course platform. Weeks 17–18 performance accounts for 10% of the In-class Activities & Short Responses component.
