Course Objective 高等資料庫系統是一門深入探討資料庫設計、開發及管理的課程，旨在提供學生一個全面性的資料庫知識。課程從基本的實體關係模式開始，逐步介紹關聯模式、關聯代數和關聯計算等資料庫設計理論。隨後，課程將深入探討SQL的應用，包括資料定義語言、資料處理語言和資料控制語言，讓學生掌握實際操作資料庫的技能。同時，課程也會涵蓋資料庫正規化、功能相依性等重要概念，以確保學生的資料庫設計能力。在課程中期，課程將引入更進階的主題，如NoSQL資料庫、分散式資料庫和儲存技術，以及複雜的資料類型。此外，課程也會探討其他類型的資料庫系統，如物件導向資料庫、XML資料模型與語言等，並介紹檔案結構和索引技術，與交易管理、並行控制和資料庫回復技術等議題。在課程的最後階段，學生將根據自己的興趣和能力進行一個期末專題的設計和開發，並展示他們的作品。本課程融合理論和實務，讓學生獲得全面的資料庫知識和實際操作能力，為未來的資料庫管理和開發工作做好準備。 Advanced Database System is a course that provides an in-depth exploration of database design, development, and management, aiming to offer students a comprehensive understanding of database systems. The course begins with fundamental concepts such as the Entity-Relationship (ER) Model, and progressively introduces database design theories, including the Relational Model, Relational Algebra, and Relational Calculus. Subsequently, the course delves into the practical use of SQL, covering DDL, DML, and DCL, enabling students to acquire hands-on skills in database operations. Important concepts such as database normalization and functional dependencies are also addressed to strengthen students’ database design capabilities. In the middle stage of the course, more advanced topics are introduced, including NoSQL databases, distributed databases, storage technologies, and complex data types. The course also explores other types of database systems, such as object-oriented databases and XML data model and languages, and covers file structures and indexing techniques, as well as transaction management, concurrency control, and database recovery techniques. In the final stage of the course, students will design and develop a final project based on their individual interests and skill levels, and present their work. By integrating both theoretical foundations and practical experience, this course provides students with a broad database knowledge and practical skills, preparing them for future employment in database management and development.
