Course Objective 隨著製造技術持續演進，設計方法已不再僅是解決問題的工具，而逐步轉化為一種設計研究與實驗的框架。本課程將介紹 Design for Manufacturing and Assembly（可製造性和可組裝性設計，DfMA）、Design for X（卓越設計，DfX）與 Circular Design（循環設計）等設計方法，並探討數位製造如何重塑當代設計思維、材料實踐與空間生成方式。課程以 3D 列印技術（加法製造，Additive Manufacturing）作為核心媒介，關注其在複雜幾何、材料行為與原型系統生成上的設計潛力。不同於將製造視為純技術流程，本課程將 3D 列印視為一種設計驅動的探索工具，引導學生從形式、結構、材料與循環策略等面向進行實驗與反思。透過相關技術發展的講授、實作導向的工作坊，以及以設計為核心的研究型專題，本課程強調反覆試作（iterative prototyping）、材料測試，以及從概念意圖到材料落實之間的轉譯過程。學生將在數位工具的輔助下，將建築與藝術構想轉化為具備製造可行性、同時保有批判與實驗性的設計原型。完成本課程後，學生將能夠：（1）理解「設計—製造」方法在設計研究脈絡中的演進與意涵；（2）辨析藝術家、設計師與工程師於數位工具使用上的差異，並探索跨領域合作的可能性；（3）分析不同 3D 列印製程於形式生成、材料實驗與空間應用上的潛力與限制；（4）將「設計—製造」流程視為設計決策與研究反思的重要場域，進行拆解與回饋；（5）運用計算式與數位設計工具，發展、測試並優化回應概念、材料與環境議題之 3D 列印構件與原型。 —— As manufacturing technologies evolve, design methodologies have expanded from problem-solving tools into critical frameworks for inquiry and experimentation. This course introduces key approaches including Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), Design for X (DFX), and Circular Design, and examines how digital fabrication reshapes design thinking and material practice. Focusing on 3D printing, or Additive Manufacturing, the course positions fabrication as a design-driven medium rather than a purely technical process. Students explore complex geometries, material behaviors, and prototypical systems through iterative experimentation. Through lectures, hands-on fabrication workshops, and design-led research projects, students engage digital tools as mediators between conceptual intent and material realization. Emphasis is placed on iterative prototyping, material testing, and critical reflection within the design-to-manufacturing workflow, enabling students to translate architectural and artistic ideas into manufacturable yet speculative artifacts.

Evaluation and grading policy 本課程評分主要分為兩大部分：「教師講演」與「分組專案設計」。．教師講演　每次課程講演後，將安排「課堂練習作業」或「指定文章閱讀與整理」。評分比例如下：　出席率：25% 　課堂練習作業／閱讀整理：25% 　課程出席率若低於 1/2 或 1/3，將依實際情況酌予扣減總成績。．分組專案設計　分組專案內容包含模型建置，並透過 3D 列印等數位製造技術進行構件製作、組裝，最終完成於指定場域之安裝與展覽。　評分比例如下：　設計與製作發展歷程：35% 　製作成果紀錄與作品集整理：15% ※ 修課同學建議具備 Rhinoceros 3D之基礎 3D建模能力。 —— The course assessment is composed of two main components: 〈Instructor-Led Lectures 〉and 〈the Group Design Project〉. 〈Instructor-Led Lectures〉　Following each lecture session, students will be assigned either in-class exercises or assigned reading summaries. The grading breakdown is as follows: 　Attendance: 25%；　In-class exercises / reading summaries: 25%；　Students whose attendance falls below one-half (1/2) or one-third (1/3) of the total class sessions may receive a deduction in their final grade, subject to the instructor’s discretion. 〈Group Design Project〉　The group project includes digital model development, the fabrication of components using 3D printing and other digital manufacturing techniques, assembly, and final installation and exhibition within a designated site. The grading breakdown is as follows: 　Design development and fabrication process: 35%；　Documentation of fabrication outcomes and portfolio compilation: 15%； Prerequisite Recommendation Students are recommended to have basic 3D modeling skills in Rhinoceros 3D.
