Course Objective Cryptography is a science used to design algorithms and formulate protocols for achieving security requirements, e.g. privacy, authentication, and data integrity. Recently, with the vigorous development of electronic communication and e-commerce, the importance of cryptography has gone beyond its historical military use. Cryptography provides technology to achieve security, for example: it allows us to successfully use credit cards for online transactions without revealing the card number to others. Over the past 25 years, cryptography has transformed from a technology developed for a specific purpose to a science with a solid theoretical foundation. This course will also teach the following directions of cryptography. Its main purpose is to arouse students' interest in cryptography and cultivate cryptography talents. 1. Definition: Discuss how to clearly and clearly define cryptographic problems (also known as cryptographic concepts), and quantify the so-called security in different cryptographic concepts. 2. Cryptographic architecture and security proof: The complete cryptographic architecture will be introduced, and the security of its architecture can be guaranteed by some difficult assumptions. 3. Theoretical basis: Cryptography architectures are all based on difficult assumptions. This part will introduce commonly used difficult assumptions, and discuss current theoretical and practical developments. 4. Cryptographic application: How to use the cryptographic architecture to apply it to higher-level security requirements is also a very important topic in cryptography. 5. Information Security: Realize network security or multimedia security through cryptography. 密碼學是一門用來設計演算法和訂定協議的科學，目的為如何在不安全的環境中達到安全的需求，如：隱私、認證、以及資料的完整性。近期，在電子通訊和電子商務的蓬勃發展下，密碼學的重要性已遠超越它在歷史上的軍事用途，而已經充滿在我們的生活當中。非常重要的是密碼學提供了實現安全的技術，例如：它讓我們可以成功使用信用卡於線上交易，同時又不洩漏卡號給其他人。由過去25年來的進展，密碼學已經從一個為了達成特定目的所開發的技術轉變成一門富有嚴謹理論基礎的科學。本課程並將會教授以下密碼學的方向，其主要目的是激起學生對密碼學的興趣，並培育密碼學人才。 1. 定義：探討如何明確且清楚的定義密碼學問題(又稱密碼概念)，以及量化所謂的安全性於不同的密碼概念上。 2. 密碼架構與安全性證明：將會介紹完整的密碼學架構，並且證明分析其架構安全性可以被某些困難的假設所保證。 3. 理論基礎：密碼架構都會接於困難假設，這部分將會介紹常用的困難假設，以及探討目前在理論以及實務上的發展。 4. 密碼應用：如何利用密碼架構應用在更高層的安全訴求上也是密碼學相當重要的課題。 5. 資訊安全：透過密碼學來實現網路安全或多媒體安全。
