Course Objective The purposes of the present lecture would be: Basics of joining processes (principles/species) Welding metallurgy (melting/heat-affected zone/microstructure) Fundamental understanding of joint characterization/evaluation Principle and application of welding processes Organization and presentation skills in English throughout the literature review

Course Schedule Week 1: Opening of the present lecture Week 2-4: Regular lecture (introduction to joining/welding) Week 5-8: Case study Week 9: Midterm paper report Week 10-16: Paper report session Week 17-18: Final paper report (online submission)

Evaluation and grading policy Midterm paper report (20%) Case report (30%) Literature review presentation (20%) Final paper report (20%) Attendance (10%)
