Course Objective The purposes of the present lecture would be: Basics of joining processes (principles/species) Welding metallurgy (melting/heat-affected zone/microstructure) Fundamental understanding of joint characterization/evaluation Principle and application of welding processes Organization and presentation skills in English throughout the literature review

Course Schedule Week 1: Opening of the present lecture Week 2-8: Regular lecture (introduction to joining/welding) Week 9: Midterm paper report Week 10-17: Student report session Week 18: Final paper report

Evaluation and grading policy Midterm paper report (20%) Literature review presentation (30%) Final paper report (20%) Attendance (30%)
