Course Objective 先修課程：3002010或負責教授同意。晶體結構、鋼之變態、相平衡原理、退火與正常化、淬火與回火、表面硬化處理、構造用鋼、工具鋼、其它鋼料及鑄鐵之熱處理。 The contents of this course can be categorized as followings: 1. fundamental metallographic concepts. 2. The effects of alloying elements in steel. 3. Hardenability 4. General heat treatment processes: annealing, hardening, tempering, and normalizing. 5. Special heat treatment process : tool steels hardening and tempering. Quenching and tempering of constructional steels, case hardening, nitriding, carbonitriding, induction hardening, and flame hardening.

Course Schedule ntroduction (week 1) 1. Backgrouds of Material Science for metals (week 2-3) 2. Strengthening mechanisms for metals (week 4-5) 3. Thermal mechanical treatment (week 6-7) -------Mid-term Exam------- (week 8) 4. Heat treatment technology of steel (week 9-11) 5. Surface hardening treatment (week 12-13) 6. Heat treatment technology of non-ferrous alloys (week 14-16) -------Final Exam------- (week 17)
