Course Objective 本課程專為有興趣透過數理模擬方法來提升集水區管理技能的學生而設計。課程內容提供了對集水區水文系統內水文過程和水質模擬所使用的原理機制和方法的全面理解。修習本課程需具備水文學和環境科學及工程的基礎知識。學生將探索多種數理模擬工具和技術，以模擬水文和水質對不同環境條件和土地利用衝擊的回應。此外，學生還需學習一些盛行的水文和水質模式並將其應用到現實場景中，以實施有效的水資源管理。本課程旨在使學生掌握必要的知識和技能，以模擬和分析水文過程及水質動態，這對於有效的水資源管理至關重要。 This course, designed for students who are interested in watershed management, will enhance their skills through modeling analysis. It provides a comprehensive understanding of the principles and methodologies used in hydrologic processes and water quality modeling within watershed hydrologic system. Fundamentals and basics of hydrologic and environmental science and engineering is prerequired for taking the course. Students will explore various modeling tools and techniques that simulate hydrologic and water quality responses to different environmental conditions and land-use practices. In addition, students are expected to learn and apply some prevailing hydrologic and water quality models to real-world scenarios for effective water resource management. This course aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to model and analyze hydrologic processes and water quality dynamics, which are critical for effective water resource management.

Course Schedule Unit 1: Introduction to watershed hydrology (watershed processes and delineation). Unit 2: Soil erosion and sediment transport. Unit 3: Water quality parameters and standards. Unit 4: Derivation of mass balance equations; advection, diffusion, and dispersion. Unit 5: Pollution types, modeling pollutant loads, and control strategies. Unit 6: Streeter-Phelps model; dissolved oxygen and BOD dynamics. Unit 7: Nutrient cycling and eutrophication. Unit 8: Watershed-Scale water quality models (model selection and frameworks). Unit 9: Model calibration and validation techniques. Unit10: Land-Use change and BMP scenarios. Unit11: Addressing uncertainty in modeling. Unit12: Climate Change Impacts on watersheds.
