| The rapid development of digital learning and emerging learning technologies, as well as effective information storage platforms, have made traditional learning theory insufficient and less productive in guiding instructional designs for contemporary educational development. New available learning technologies therefore call for the need to re-consider new learning theories. For that, the definitions and mechanism of learning and learners have become more multidimensional and open-ended, instead of being singular and standardized in conventional perception. For those who are devoted to create new technological applications for learning, it is no doubt critical to construct new mechanism of learning in current highly digitized era. This course will discuss relevant cognitive learning theories from research in psychology and education, and contemplate how new e-learning solutions can be evaluated.
