Description
| The course focuses on Taiwan cinema including examples by Hou Hsiao-hsien(侯孝賢), Tsai Ming-liang(蔡明亮), Edward Yang(楊德昌), and other selected Taiwanese filmmakers. Though “the long takes” and “the slowness” are the two major cinematic features in Taiwan cinema, the course will briefly take a historical investigation in the film history, introducing the basics of film skills, narrative, and methodologies of textual analysis. The students are expected to enhance the understanding and appreciation of significance in Taiwan cinema.
