English Description As an important technique in analytical chemistry and separation process, chromatography is often used in the qualitative and quantitative analysis of mixture composition and purification process. This course will focus on the thermodynamic description, mass transfer and heat transfer phenomena, and process design in the chromatographic processes; interpretation of HPLC chromatogram; HPLC experimental skills; advanced application of chromatography engineering. Moreover, students will be asked to do literature research on topics related to chromatography, or to discuss relevant research results obtained in their researches. The syllabus is as follows:
1. Adsorbents and adsorption equilibrium
2. Linear solute movement analysis
3. Temperature swing adsorption
4. Pressure swing adsorption
5. Simulated moving bed
6. Nonlinear solute movement analysis
7. Ion exchange
8. Mass and energy transfer in packed beds
9. Mass transfer solutions for linear sys
