Description This course focuses on a chosen theme in literary and cultural studies, aiming to train our graduate's ability to investigate, both textually and theoretically, a theme in cultural productions in a comparative mode. Integrating the knowledge and insights students have acquired in other courses on artistic styles, social, and philosophical treads in a given period, this course approaches literature comparatively. In the process of examining what a particular theme means across history, students should acquire techniques important throughout their postgraduate studies. Possible themes include: Literature and Revenge, Literature and Music, Love and Desire in Cinema, Literature and Philosophy, etc.
