| This course aims to familiarize students with the translation industry and relevant translation practices. To help students understand the current state of the translation industry, this course will cover the following topics: key trends in the translation industry, workplace visits, expert sharing, AI and the translation industry (e.g. computer-assisted translation, machine translation and post-editing), localization and paid crowdsourcing. With regard to translation practices, this course will focus on those normally performed in the industry, including financial translation, news translation/news trans-editing, scientific and technical translation, web translation, tourism translation and transcreation. Through various translation exercises, students will be acquainted with various strategies and methods to deal with different types of translation.
