5415308 Using Cultural Stories in ESL/EFL Classrooms 3.0 3
Description In both ESL and EFL classrooms, English serves not only as a means to conduct daily communication but also as a media to explore diversified subjects and fields. To build up students’ communicative competence, famous stories and popular tales prove to be resourceful because of their richness in linguistic, cultural, and psychological significance. In this course, multi-cultural stories (including archetypal tales, classic fairy tales, their modern counterparts, and their twisted revisions) are carefully selected and organized according to their main theme. For future teachers taking this course, the instructor will demonstrate how this approach can be actually practiced to best benefit ESL/EFL students. In the practicum section, future teachers are required to try their hands in using these stories.
