| This course aims to introduce students to in-house interpreting, escort interpreting and conference interpreting. Students are familiarized with advanced strategies and techniques in both the consecutive and simultaneous mode of interpreting. Intensive training in sight translation, note-taking and memory retention seek to promote students' listening comprehension and facilitate consecutive interpreting. In simultaneous interpreting sessions, students learn the multitasking nature of the profession and the concept of processing capacity. Practical coping tactics including segmentation, conversion, amplification/omission, correction and induction are also put into practice in interpreting authentic speeches.
