| The objective of the course is to introduce the fundamental concepts of bioprocess engineering, which is the application of engineering principles to design, develop, and analyze bioprocesses. The course will first survey the basics ideas from microbiology and biochemistry. Subsequently, the emphasis will be the application of engineering concepts to biological problems. The following topics will be included: enzyme kinetics, major metabolic pathways, cell growth, stoichiometry, bioreactor operation, and product recovery and purification.
