Description This course complements the techniques learned in Database Design and presents a review of basic techniques commonly used in data mining. The purpose of this graduate level course is to lead students to statistically comb the data collected in various databases for new domain knowledge and insights. Examples of databases of interest include disaster information databases, typhoon/rainfall databases, geological boring logs databases, GIS databases, ecological databases, etc. Students are required to complete semester projects individually or in groups.
