3903489 Studies in Architecture and Landscape Urbanism 2.0 2
Description The term "urbanism" originated in the late nineteenth century with a focus on spatial organization of the city. The emergence of urbanism in the early twentieth century was associated with the rise of industrial distribution, spatial networks and citizenship etc. in the city. After 90’s, there were a series of new academic terms referring to this idea which created a base for interdisciplinary studies amongst related spatial terrains. Landscape Urbanism is regarded as one of the significant design and planning ethos especially in the twenty-first century. In Koolhaas’ early work S,M,L,XL(1995)and Waldheim’s representative collection The Landscape Urbanism Reader(2006), they both shared account that architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and planning are moving toward shared form of emerging ‘practice. The body of knowledge about Landscape Urbanism has been largely developed within landscape discipline, yet merely in the architectural discourse especially in Taiwan.
