Mechanical fastening, adhesive bonding, welding, brazing, soldering, hybrids, and other options are described in terms of joint design, suitability to and limitations with various materials and shapes, detailed methods, testing and inspection, and properties. Preferred methods for joining similar and dissimilar combinations of metals, ceramics, glasses, polymers, and composites are described.
