3403097 Biotechnical and Soil Bioengineering Slope Stabilization 3.0 3
Description The concept and principles of ecological engineering has been widely adopted by various disciplines of traditional civil engineering, including hydraulic engineering, slope stabilization, urban infrastructures, and transportation engineering. Among them, slope stabilization is a particularly important topic because of the frequent occurrence of debris flows and landslides in Taiwan, and thus it becomes necessary to provide such a course to familiarize students with this important field. In this introductory course, we will explain the fundamental concepts of biotechnical and soil bioengineering and how to apply them to the slope stabilization and erosion control. An interdisciplinary approach that combines the knowledge and understanding of both mechanical design and vegetation properties will be emphasized. The results can be integrated with traditional retaining structures to create more economical and eco-friendly slope stabilization systems. No prerequisite.
