Description The course is designated for undergraduate students who are interested in developing skills in metallic materials-related fields. Based on the concepts of thermodynamics, electrochemistry, and physical metallurgy, the course introduces the extraction metallurgy of metallic elements and their alloying processes. The course discusses: metallurgy of ferrous alloys, metallurgy and hydrometallurgy of Cu, Al, Ti, Ni, Mg, Zn, Si, and noble metals, and the specialty processes for preparing alloys of the above. Properties and applications of the above alloys are also covered.
