Description This is an introductory course to bioenergy which deals with bioenergy properties,production and logistics as well as biofuel upgrading processes,combustion/gasification and environmental aspects.The main goal is to introduce students to bioenergy sources and related biotechnology for the production of biofuels and bioproducts.The student will get an overview of available biomass resources,knowledge of basic methods of bioenergy use,and the possibilities for bioenergy use today and in the future.Furthermore,this course will provide the experience in various bioenergy including liquid biofuels(such as biodiesel,bioethanol,and MTBE),solid biofuels(wood and grass bioenergy),and biogas(the farm-based bioenergy).The course will provide the students the biofuel-related science and technology,the background and literature information regarding to the environmental,economical,and social issues,as well as other biofuel-related development such as genetic cloning,biocatalysis, and biorefinery.
