Description
| This course focuses on hands-on training of basic cell laboratory skills. The purpose is to help students understand cell physiology. The main curriculum contains 1. measuring cell growth and metabolism; 2. observing cell morphology. There will also be speakers from the industry and academic institutes to talk about more specific applications.
The class contains the following topics:
1. Cell metabolism and viability (Experiment: measure cell viability)
2. Cell growth (Experiment: Cell counting)
3. Proteins and DNA (Experiment: DNA quantification)
4. Cell intermediate and final products (Experiment: quantification of cellular products and ELISA)
5. Tissue physiology (Experiment: fluorescent stain of cells)
6. Cell morphology (Experiment: histological stain of cells)
Cellular interactions with biomedical materials.
