This course includes the following topics: (1) machine tools and machining operations, (2) fundamental metal-cutting mechanics, (3) temperature effect in metal machining, (4) tool lifetime and tool materials, (5) cutting coolants and surface roughness, (6) economics of meta-cutting operations, (7) chip control, (8) grinding, (9) experimental methods on metal machining, (10) CAD/CAM and numerical control (NC) machining, (11) techniques for precision machining.
