Description In the field of contemporary art, photography has been developing into a way of social intervention. This trend also contributes to triggering more dialogues concerning “photography and society” in the discipline of sociology. The course mainly includes two parts: photography history and the photography as a social practice. In the first section, along with the history of photography, the social usages of photography will be introduced. In the second section, how photography art can be a social practice and what kinds of practice have been explored will be . In addition to class lectures and group discussions, the course requires all students to complete their individual photo project in the end of semester and their works will be presented in class.
