| The Eastern Asian countries are not only geographically close to--but they also have a lot historical interactions with Taiwan. Eastern Asia is actually made up of both northeaster and southeastern countries. The fact is: even before the "Northeastern" Japan begins colonizing Taiwan, the "Southeastern" Indonesia has been in prior contact with Taiwan in the name of BATAVIA: the Dutch East India Company. This course focuses on the historical connection between Taiwan and Eastern Asian countries, including Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.
