| This course is designed to offer students advanced knowledge of the Western culture. Major topics include the development of the Western culture from ancient Greece to the 20th century and the evolution of human experiences and intelligence. Apart from learning the advantages and limitations of the Western culture, students will also explore why and how the Western culture has had such a great impact on the world. The influence and inspiration of the Western culture on modern Chinese will be discussed as well. In short, the course objective is to enhance students' understanding of the evolution and the characteristics of the Western culture.
