Description This course is meant to explore a diversity of roles and aspects of women in Chinese literature. Typical works of writing-including poems, verses, legends and novels in Ming and Chin dynasties--in different periods of time are selected for reading and further discussion. Through the reading and analysis of the articles, we observe the main-stream descriptive statements made by male elite writers and, by using the relent theories of today's feminism, we encourage the students to further understand the gender awareness of modern feminists and the deeper interpretation of equal-right education through group reports.
