Description "Contemporary collecting" has become a core concern for museums and cultural institutions in recent years, emphasizing cultural responses to recent histories and ongoing social events, and striving to include diverse voices in the construction of narratives. This course explores how contemporary collecting engages with social change, cultural equity, and identity politics through the development of inclusive narrative frameworks. Students will be introduced to both theoretical foundations and practical approaches, including object interpretation, memory representation, and community-based participatory collecting. The course also addresses the ethical and political dimensions of collecting: Who has the right to collect? Whose memory is preserved? How can cultural spaces become sites of dialogue in pluralistic societies?
